Kent Williams, MD, a pediatric gastroenterologist at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio says that many parents of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) report that behavior improves when their children remove casein and gluten from their diets. However, he does caution that even though clinical studies are being conducted, there is no conclusive evidence of a connection at this. he strongly urges any parent considering placing their autistic child on a gluten free diet to consult with a dietary counselor such as a nutritionist or dietician.
